BCCI announced India squad for upcoming West Indies tour for T20I. Tilak Varma, Jaiswal got maiden-call up. There will be five matches in the T20I series starting from 3rd August, 2023 at different venues in West Indies and United States of America. Selected venue for India vs West Indies in USA is Florida where 2 last consecutive matches will be held.
The last two games will be held in the United States, with three games taking place in the West Indies. In last encounter against West Indies during previous year, India thrashed them by 4-1 in a bilateral T20I series.

To minimise the workload for the ODI World Cup 2023, senior players like Rohit Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja, Virat Kohli, Md. Siraj, Shami are not part of the team during the India vs West Indies T20I series. Sanju Samson and Ravi Bishnoi have been called back by the selectors. The likes of Jitesh Sharma, Washington Sundar, Ruturaj Gaikwad demonstrated their talent in the shorter format, IPL, still were let go out of the squad for 5 match T20I series.

Yashasvi Jaiswal who was in great form in TATA IPL 2023 will look to make the most of the upcoming opportunities. Jaiswal piled 625 runs with 5 fifties and a century along including the fastest fifty of the tournament in just 13 balls.
Talking about the selection equation of wicket-keeper, Ishan Kishan hasn’t played upto his reputation in T20 international cricket. The left-handed keeper has amassed 653 runs in 17 innings, with not-so-interesting strike rate of 122.74.
Sanju Samson who got included in T20I squad has played total of 17 T20I matches and managed only 301 runs in 16 innings with strike-rate of 133.78. With these stats in mind, it will be interesting to see which player will get the role of wicket-keeper batsman in the series or both might get chances to show their calibre against the caribbean bowling department.
Fantastic spinners duo, KulCha, might be seen together going against the top destructive lineup of Windies. Kuldeep Yadav has scalped 46 wickets in 27 matches while Yuzvendra Chahal is about to complete his 100 wickets milestone with 91 wickets so far in 74 matches.
In the Indian bowling lineup, Avesh Khan returns to the squad. Bowling department comprises of inexperienced but talented speedsters like Arshdeep Singh, Umran Malik, Mukesh Kumar along with Avesh.
